Mission


The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to support research to find the cure for and prevention of arthritis and to improve the quality of life for those affected by arthritis.

Arthritis Facts


  • Nearly 40 million people in the U.S. are affected by some form of arthritis (including over 300,000 children). That's one in six people or one in three families.
  • There are over 120 forms of arthritis (such as, lupus, osteoporosis, gout, fibromyalgia).
  • Arthritis stikes at any age -- including infants. It also affects women twice as much as men.
  • Arthritis costs the U.S. economy an estimated $65 billion in medical care, lost wages and additional indirect costs.
