Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to create a better habitat in which to live and work. To accomplish this, Habitat builds and renovates houses so there are decent houses in decent communities in which people can live and grow into all that God intends.

San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity is a Pasadena-area, people-to-people partnership drawing families and communities together to build safe, decent and affordable housing.

San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity (SGVHFH) is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. The affiliate was founded in 1989 and seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the San Gabriel Valley while making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

SGVHFH builds, renovates, and repairs simple, decent and affordable housing by partnering with families who are living in inadequate housing and are unable to secure housing by conventional means.

SGVHFH sells houses to selected families with no profit or interest added after 500 hours of labor - sweat equity - on their house or their neighbors. House payments are used for construction or renovation of additional affordable housing.
